ISLAMABAD: A photographic exhibition “Fighter of Democracy” on the life, works and contribution of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto opened at Lok Virsa in Islamabad.

A press release issued by the museum on Wednesday said that the exhibition depicts the life of Benazir Bhutto. The photographs capture the moments she spent with her family including father Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, mother Nusrat Bhutto, sister Sanam Bhutto, Shahnawaz and Murtaza Bhutto (brothers ), husband Asif Ali Zardari and children Bilawal, Bakhtawar and Asifa.

The exhibition also features photographs of her interactions with world leaders including George Bush Senior, Margaret Thatcher, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Francois Mitterand, Yasser Arafat, Indira Gandhi and Hamid Karzai.

A tribute to the contributions rendered by her during her two-time premiership, the exhibition documents her “untiring struggle” for the restoration of democracy in Pakistan which culminated on her assassination on December 27, 2007.

Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani, Federal Minister for Culture, after inaugurating the exhibition said, “Benazir Bhutto gave us the political vision of democracy. She had a vision about culture and she was a hope for the people of Pakistan.”

History remembers those who sacrifice their lives for the people and the country, he added.

Lok Virsa Executive Director Khalid Javaid said that the exhibition aims to pay tribute to the slain leader who sacrificed her life for the people and democracy.
