Arrangements are being finalised for the four-day polio vaccination campaign in six districts of Karachi, which will cover 1,016,499 children from Wednesday.
Dr Mazhar Khamisani of EPI-Sindh said that all children up to five years of age, from 80 union councils of Karachi will be covered by 2,795 mobile teams.
He said the vaccination campaign will commence from October 12 in 14 other districts of Sindh with 4,053,238 children under five being targeted.
“After completing the campaign in Karachi, we will focus on kids in other parts of the province,” said the official. The districts to be covered from October 12 to 15 include Hyderabad, Larkana, Sanghar, Dadu, Jamshoro, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Ghotki, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Naushero Feroz, Benazirabad, Khairpur and Kambar. Oral polio drops will be administered.
