LAHORE:

Commissioner Abdullah Khan Sumbal has directed officials to improve dengue larva surveillance in the city. He urged the public to prevent accumulation of water in plant pots, water coolers and abandoned corners in their houses.

He said the officials concerned should ensure that entomologists were accompanying field teams during surveillance visits. The commissioner was earlier told that dengue larvae were found in sewer caps and water coolers at two houses. He was speaking to the media after visiting a neighbourhood in Muslim Park, Sanda. He said precautionary measures were crucial for prevention of an outbreak of dengue fever. He said strict monitoring of field teams would be ensured to prevent negligence.
