PM to embark on two-day visit to Kazakhstan on Tuesday

A number of agreements and MoUs are expected to be signed during PM Nawaz's visit

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is going to visit the Republic of Kazakhstan for two days from tomorrow (August 25), the Foreign Office said on Monday.

“At the invitation Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev, the prime minister will undertake visit to Astana, Kazakhstan on 25-26 August 2015,” a press release issued by the Foreign Office said.

“The prime minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation during his visit to the republic,” it added.

Further, a number of agreements and memorandum of understandings (MoUs) are expected to be signed during PM Nawaz's visit.

“Pakistan accords high priority to its deep historical and cultural bonds with the Central Asian region, the statement said, adding that the government is committed to expand cooperative relations with Central Asian republics.

During his visit, the premier will discuss bilateral relations, regional and international issues of mutual interest with the president and prime minister of Kazakhstan.

“The prime minister will hold meetings with President Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev and Prime Minister Karim Massimov in Astana.”

Pakistan and Kazakhastan enjoy close and brotherly relations which are marked by cordiality and cooperation in diverse fields, the FO said.

“Pakistan was among the first few countries that recognized and established diplomatic relations with Kazakhstan after its independence in December 1991,” it added.

Further, it said the relations between the two regional countries are based on mutual respect, shared perceptions and common desire to promote peace, stability and development in the region.
