FAISALABAD:

A girl and her brother shot dead a man on Friday after he refused to marry her.

The Tandlianwala SHO told The Express Tribune Samina*, a resident of Chak 596-GB, had fallen in love with Muhammad Sajid, a resident of Mohallah Razaabad and had asked him to marry her.

He said Sajid had refused to marry her, saying that he was already married and had eight children.

Muhammad Akram, Sajid’s cousin, told police that Samina had threatened him with dire consequences when he refused to marry her. He said she used to call him to threaten him.

“Sajid considered her threatening calls as a routine matter and did not take them seriously,” he said.

He said Sajid was returning home from his shop when Samina and her brother Allah Yar had shot him. He died on the spot. The SHO said the suspects managed to escape.

He said police had taken custody of the body and had formed a team to find and arrest the suspects.
