PESHAWAR: An FIR was registered at Yakatoot police station against another 159 people who allegedly attested the CNIC forms for Afghan refugees, allowing them to become Pakistani nationals. An official of the Yakatoot police confirmed the registration of the FIRs against Class-I government officers to The Express Tribune. However, most of those implicated were former elected representatives. More than 550 people were booked after their names were shared with the police by NADRA. Action is expected against these officials soon. Most of those booked are trying to get bail before arrest from the courts. After the registration of FIRs, the cases have been handed over to the investigation department for further action. “FIRs have been registered at Shah Qabool, Yakatoot, Hashtnagri and Tehkal police stations,” said an official. In the wake of the Army Public School massacre, the K-P government launched a crackdown against illegal Afghan immigrants.
