The Sindh High Court reprimanded the provincial home secretary and police chief for not complying with directives to give security to the family of the slain O' Levels student, Sulaiman Lashari.
A division bench, comprising justices Sajjad Ali Shah and Syed Saeeduddin Nasir, ordered them to provide necessary protection to the family and the witnesses in the murder case. The victim's father, Ghulam Mustafa Lashari, had complained of constant threats from the accused's father, Ghulam Sarwar Abro, SSP of the Police Training Centre, Sakrand.
During Tuesday's hearing, Sindh IG Ghulam Haider Jamali appeared in person to submit his written explanation to the show-cause notice issued to him on Monday. Jamali said four police guards were given to the petitioner and his family. The petitioner had changed residence which may have caused some problems but this was not a deliberate act, he said.
