Tori dyke commission says breach occurred naturally

Two member commission submits report to Sindh government; says dyke not taken care of properly.

KARACHI: The judicial commission formed to investigate the Tori dyke breach in interior Sindh suggested on Wednesday that the breach occurred naturally.

The two member commission has submitted is report to the Sindh government. The commission wrote in its report that it was the responsibility of the Indus River Commission to look after the dykes.

Speaking before the media in Karachi, Chief Minister Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah said the commission in its findings stated that it appeared that the dyke had not been taken care of properly.

two-member commission had been formed to investigate the breaches in the Tori and MS bunds following after allegations that the Tori Bund had been deliberately breached in order to protect the land belonging to certain government officials.

IZ | 13 years ago | Reply So whose responsibility was it to take care of the dyke "properly"? They should be identified and fired. And can we ensure that from now on the dykes and other protective measures are being properly maintained?
