Life imprisonment: Drug peddler sentenced

KARACHI: A special court for the control of narcotics substances (CNS) sentenced a man to life imprisonment after convicting him of drug trafficking on Thursday. Malik Mohsin was found guilty of peddling a large cache of drugs. According to the prosecution, 10 kilogramme (kg) opium and two kg charas were seized from his possession when an anti-narcotics team of law enforcers raided an intercity bus terminal on the Northern Bypass in December 2012. The trial has been on-going for more than two years and eventually, after scrutinising the evidence, the CNS court I judge sentenced him to 25 years. The convict was also ordered to pay Rs36,000 as fine. If he fails to pay, he will serve another six months in prison.
