KARACHI: Erum Awan, a female police superintendent, has been appointed as the first spokesperson for the Sindh police, according to an official notification issued by Sindh IG Ghulam Hyder Jamali on Friday. Earlier, three SP-ranked officers, Farooq Awan, Ejaz Shaikh and Imran Shaukat, have held the same post, which was lying vacant for at least two years. Currently, there are two information departments in the police to deal with the media - one of them is for the IG and is being headed by press director Dr Moizuddin Pirzada, and the second one is for the Karachi police chief being headed by inspector Atiq Mir.
