Zulfikarabad oil tankers terminal: SC seeks report on project’s status
They alleged that the petroleum ministry and the transporters had to contribute to the cost of the facility
KARACHI:
The Supreme Court appointed on Monday transport secretary Talha Farooqui as the coordinator for the Zulfikarabad oil tankers terminal, directing him to submit a report on the current status of the project by April 2. A two-member bench, headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali was hearing a human rights application seeking the transfer of the terminal from Shireen Jinnah Colony and its adjoining residential areas. On Monday, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation authorities said that the terminal was ready to use but the tanker owners were delaying shifting their vehicles to the new parking facility outside the city limits. They alleged that the petroleum ministry and the transporters had to contribute to the cost of establishing the facility but they have yet to pay.
