Tragedy: Three die as jeep falls into ravine in AJK

A passenger jeep was going to Hardyala from Thotha, when it fell into a deep ravine.

At least three people were killed and seven others injured in a road accident some 20 kilometre from here on Sunday.


According to police and the local people, a passenger jeep was going to Hardyala from Thotha, when it fell into a deep ravine while negotiating a sharp curve near Nakka Shaikhan.

As a result of the incident, Aziz Khan, his wife Shah Begum and another passenger, who was identified as Jamid Wali, died on spot, while seven other passengers sustained critical wounds. The injured were identified as Mehnzaz Rubbi, Kabeer Muhammad, Jawad Saeed, Yameena Yaqoob,  Aneesha Waheed, Zaman Kabir and Saeed. The police and rescue workers shifted the bodies and the injured to the Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayad Al-Nahyan Hospital in Muzaffarabad for treatment.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Communication and Works Abdur Rashid directed the district administration to issue compensation amount to the deceased and the injured on a priority basis.
