Pressing Demand: ‘Regularise contract workers’ services’

PWD organised a rally to mark the International Labour Day.

BAHAWALPUR: The All Pakistan Public Works Department (PWD) Workers’ Union on Thursday demanded that the government regularise jobs of contract employees.

They organised a rally to mark the International Labour Day, led by union zonal chairman Asghar Ali Chisti and secretary Afzal Mehmud. They said the minimum salary of a labourer should be equal to the price of 12 grammes of gold.

They said workers should be insured and given due benefits after their retirement. Muhammad Tahir Mehmud, Siraj Ahmad, Muhammad Bakhsh Abbasi, Bashir Ahmad, Fazil Khan Aftab, Abdul Subhan and Muhammad Iqbal attended the rally.
