Pollution: Oil companies must submit $1,300,000 to court tomorrow, says CJ

The oil companies were meant to spend this money to promote social welfare activities and had not done so.

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry has ordered oil companies to submit $1,300,000 in the Supreme Court tomorrow, Express News reported on Wednesday.

During a case in the Supreme Court regarding oil companies’ pollution, Additional Attorney General Shah Khawar said that the oil companies were meant to spend $1,300,000 promoting healthcare, education and other social welfare activities and had not done so.

Justice Jawad S Khawaja said that due to restrictions on oil companies, they must promote social welfare in any areas where they operate.
