NA-250 had a large number of contestants like Dr Arif Alvi from the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Khushbakht Shujat from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and so on.
Reports suggest that a party is methodologically creating hindrances for voters as disgruntled voters return to their homes.
People had come out to vote in their wheel chairs and were standing under the hot sun but ballot papers and boxes were nowhere to be seen.
Volunteers of political parties are distributing water among the voters who have been standing under the scorching sun since eight in the morning.
Many are promising to return after the polling stations start to function properly but disappointment has replaced the fervor in the NA-250 constituency.
Bath Island - Iqra School
Actor Hina Bayat told The Express Tribune correspondent Atika Rehman that there were no ballot boxes at the Girls’ Government College of Commerce and Economics. “In Bath Island Iqra School, they weren’t opening the doors till Rangers forced them to start polling,” she said.
She also said that such a situation can lead to violence as people are angry.
A voter wrote to The Express Tribune saying that, “problems were being created at Iqra polling station near IG house Bath Island for NA-250. I won't mention party name.”
DA Model School
A voter Mishal Arif wrote an email to The Express Tribune reporting that ballot papers had not arrived at polling station DA Model School of NA-250m PS-113 constituency. “We arrived at the station exactly at 8am and left around 10:30am because there are still not ballot boxes there,” she wrote.
DHA Model School Phase-IV
The presiding officer at DHA Model School Phase-IV polling station of NA-250 told The Express Tribune correspondent Sarah Munir that there were no ballot papers and no voting screens at the station.
The officer, Ata Hussain, said that he was supposed to have 12 assisting officers but only two people have arrived.
He said that polling in the constituency cannot start even after the ballot papers arrive as there is no staff.
Voters, standing in long queues since hours, have become disgruntled and some are returning back home.
DHA Boys Degree College - Khayaban e Rahat
Ballot boxes are still unavailable and reports are circulating that 35,000 ballot papers have gone missing, The Express Tribune employee shared around 12 noon.
“Some people seen leaving while others have been passing around water bottles and making sure the elderly and women get to go inside,” she further said.

Actually the desperate efforts to deter NA-250 voters are but an example of how results are manipulated in ALL Karachi polling stations. Therefore ALL results for Karachi are suspect! Just count the numbers of cast votes and divide by the polling agents allotted. If it took 5 minutes per vote per woman with 2 agents at our booth that comes to 12 votes per hour! Which explains why women stood in line for hours to cast their vote......from early morning till sunset. Either the voting was deliberately slowed on the behest of those who cant tolerate any other groups voting for another party or if it is the normal speed then huge numbers are indicative of supernatural forces assisting the winning parties. Whoever the perpetrators are they must be unmasked and punished. How is it that no one recognises the unknowns?
I cant undertand why the ECP staff didnt show up and there were hinderences only in those areas where pti was popular like 250, 252 and 253?? :-s
ECP if you guys done know how the election thingy works why don't you guys resign and let the youth or people on merit to do the job. it was so mismanaged that I stood for 10 hours to cast my vote. shame on you people. perfect example on unqualified government officials
CEC should investigate and put behind bars the person incharge of NA 250 election and staff that did not show up.Those who did not show up for election duty should not only be arrested but loose their job. This is sheer violation of human rights of citizen of Pakistan by depriving their right to vote Entire election of Karachi should be re-done
so much for change. . .
Chief Justice of Pakistan is shown to have voted on TV, he of course didnt not have to stand in the cue and vote with ordinary citizens, but why is he accompanied by his son Arsalan. Why didnt Arsalan stand in the cue with the others in the constituency and wait for his turn.
NOTHING WILL CHANGE IN PAKISTAN
my polling station is zaheen academy, clifton block 9. have been there 3 times since morning. first at 9.00 am the presiding officer hadnt arrived. 2nd time around at 11 00 am he was there, but ballot boxes hadnt arrived.3rd time at 12:30 pm, voting still hadnt started because now they said the stamp and ink was unavailable. will try again. determined to vote.
No ECP stamp (for officers) at NA 250 pns shifa naval colony school.
All officers signed the paper saying "we did not recieve any official stamp." All votes are invalid and no revoting is being allowed.
@Irfan Qureshi: Hi Irfan, PLEASE dont give up! stay connected and must cast the vote and encourage people. this day has been too long waited. dont let those succeed who want lower turn out and educate areas. give the vote no matter what it takes. Today is the day to defeat the culprits..
Voted at iqra school bath-island. things got of late but been a smooth process since 0930. nice turnout and a festive environment.
mqm workers were misbehaving with the people who were waiting in line. shame on them, disapointed. ths party has lost all respect in the eyes of ppl who can c n read n write.
I live in DHA Lahore. Stood in queue for 3 hours to cast my vote because of unbelievable turnout in this 'posh' locality. Still hundreds of men and women including elderly on wheel chairs are waiting to vote. I know it is not easy to stand for so long in this heat but I would request my Karachi brethren to have a little more patience and must vote- those who have come back please go back again and vote. This is our chance to try and rid ourselves of those 'na-maloom afraad'
ET Name the Party. If these elections are rigged then its the end of Pakistan and Karachi.
man stop blaming rigging already ! either if you believe its happening then do something or just shut up and stay in your houses ! this constituency has equal weight from all the three dominant parties so other parties should do something to stop if rigging is happening..
@M Yousaf:
Not surprised, NA-250 is arguably the only constituency from Karachi where PTI stands a solid chance of winning - Arif Alvi enjoys immense support, respect and popularity in that community in particular. There's only one party who can possibly feel threatened by it and resort to such acts.
NA 250 fiasco should be fully investigated. Once again, Naa Maloom Afraad at work I guess? Where is CEC. Provincial election office is less then 20 minute drive away from Defence Housing Authority and Clifton polling stations. Why have the ballot boxes not reached the stations till 11:15 AM?
My polling station is DHA School Phase 4 and it has been almost 4 hours since we are waiting for the voting to start.. Whatever the conspiracy is.. we are still going to cast our vote! -Frustrated voter
Namaloom Afraad at work...I am beginning to get sick of them...
Typical Pakistani uneducated behavior. If this is not rigging then define it? Salams
maybe ET is afraid to take the name. just give clue we will understand.
Its 11:15 am and polling has not started at DHA Model School, Phase IV. Long queues.
Come on ECP! This is exactly what you are supposed to thwart. Please, please, please don't let our country down at this point. Arrest any and all people that are trying to hinder the process. Please, let every citizen of Pakistan cast their vote - it is our basic democratic right. Please, stop these malicious crooks. Please - this is our only chance and the first one in almost 40 years.
I just voted for arif alvi and PTI at the CAMS voting station in Clifton. Security is present with police and rangers and it is a good family atmosphere. The ballot papers and boxes arrived late but voting began over an hour ago. I spoke to 20 people (men and women, different ages) and all were there to vote for IK and team. I urge everyone to go and cast their vote as every vote counts and it will take just a bit of your time to ensure that we bring in some positive change.
ET have guts...Name the party!!!!!
I just voted for arif alvi and PTI at the CAMS voting station in Clifton. Security was very present with rangers and police and it was a good family atmosphere. The ballot papers arrived very late but voting has begun over an hour ago. I spoke to about 20 individuals there (men and women, different ages) and all were there to vote for IK and team. I urge everyone to Please cast your vote, every single vote counts, and it will just take a bit of your time to ensure that we bring in some positive change.
I have been waiting since 7.15 t cast my vote. Gave up and have just come home... Huge turnout considering from posh locality perspective.....overwhelmingly PTI... Looks deliberate to manage lower turnout by not delivering Ballot boxes.
Shame on ECP.... Big bullshitters...
what do u mean by "a party"????????????
