LAHORE:

Budgetary constraints are decelerating the progress on projects carried out by Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), said Chief Officer of SMEDA Sardar Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera while briefing the Federal Secretary Industries Shahid Rashid, who visited SMEDA head office here on Thursday.

The visit was aimed at reviewing the status of Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) projects being implemented by SMEDA. A presentation, given by SMEDA to the Secretary, revealed that some of the PSDP projects being executed by SMEDA were facing hardships due to financial constraints.

Sukhera urged the Secretary to extend Ministry of Industries’ support, for release of the funds at the government’s end, to projects which were being delayed at final phase of their completion. The federal secretary assured of taking up the matter with concerned quarters in the government for obtaining funds for PSDP projects to be completed by SMEDA.
