According to initial details, candidate Abdul Fateh Magsi - along with his eight supporters - was kidnapped last night.
The bodies of Magsi and his three supporters were recovered today, however, five others are still missing.
Due to the incident, the election body announced the postponement of polls in the area.
The new date for elections will be announced post May 11 polls.
Amidst surging pre-poll violence in Balochistan, Pakistan Army and paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) had decided to launch a 15-day-long ‘targeted operation’ across the volatile province in order to ensure the May 11 elections are held in a peaceful atmosphere.
“As many as 6,500 army soldiers, 17,000 FC men, 28,000 police and 15,000 Levies (tribal police) will be deployed in all 30 districts and 92 tehsils of the province,” provincial Home Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani had said.
Correction: In an earlier version of this story, it was incorrectly reported that the candidate died during a fight between his armed supporters and Levies personnel. The error is regretted.
