Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) will not resume weekly supply of gas to Punjab due to damage to its pipeline at the Gudoo Kashmor station in Rajan district by explosives on Friday, says the managing director of SNGPL Arif Hameed. It was main supply line from the Sui field to Punjab.
Resumption of gas supply from Friday for three days was scheduled by the utility company to the industries and the CNG sector in region-1 of Punjab, which was now not possible because the 24-inch pipeline was blown up by unknown persons.
This is the seventh sabotaging activity in the last two months, resulting in a huge loss to the company, though Hameed did not give the magnitude of the loss even after requests.
The company had sent technical teams to repair the line and gas supply will be resumed on Monday.
The technical teams will only be able to work in daylight due to adverse law and order state in the region where the pipeline was located.
SNGPL had asked law enforcing agencies to provide security to the maintenance team.
