LAHORE:

A group of lawyers on Friday thrashed litigants and later filed a case against them after they came out of a district and sessions court after attending proceedings of a murder case.

The lawyers thrashed Muhammad Rajab, Ibadat Ali, Muhammad Sakhawat, Muhammad Altaf, Muhammad Dilbar, Shaukat and Kamal Ahmed. The men were arrested by the police.

The men had come to attend proceedings of a post-arrest bail application of Muhammad Khadim accused of murder of Advocate Muhammad Mehram’s uncle Amanat Ali. As they came out of the courtroom, Mehram raised alarm, claiming that his opponents had attacked him, witnesses told The Express Tribune. At Mehram’s shouting, some lawyers approached him and started thrashing the litigants. They also called the Islampura police who arrested the men.

Later, Mehram filed a complaint, claiming that the men had attacked him because they wanted to stop him from pursuing his uncle’s murder case. He also accused them of snatching documents.

Ibadat Ali said the allegations levelled against them had nothing to do with reality. He said the lawyers had also snatched his wallet carrying Rs20,000.

A couple of days ago, the lawyers had locked district courts after a female lawyer was thrashed by a litigants family.
