Urban development: Rs140 million projects in Bahawalpur, RY Khan approved

Includes water supply projects, construction of road.

The district government has approved nine development projects across the district. The projects comprises three projects for provision of water to areas that lack water and four for expansion of water supply in Bahawalpur and construction of a road and a public park in Rahim Yar Khan. These will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs140 million.


The projects were approved in a meeting on Monday that was attended by project managers and district administration officials. Bahawalpur District Coordination Officer Dr Naeem Rauf was also present.

An estimated amount of Rs40 million will be spent on water provision schemes in Chak 112/Desert Branch, Chak 129/ Desert Branch and Chak 60/ Desert Branch of Yazman.



Around Rs15 million rupees will be spent on the expansion and restoration of water supply in Chak 17/ Dera Nawab Branch, Chak 37/ Dera Nawab Branch, Chak 38/Dera Nawab Branch and Chak 88/ Desert Branch.

The road from Dari Sanghi Bridge to Belgium Chowk will be constructed and a park be built in Rahim Yar Khan at Rs83.5 million.

The DCO directed the officials to hand over the water supply projects in Bahawalpur to the relative users’ committee for use. He also directed the officials to ensure that quality material was used in the construction of the projects.

“They should not require renovation for at least 20 years after completion,” he said.

He directed the Department of Public Health Engineering officials to ensure timely completion of these projects.
