PESHAWAR: Police officials will be assigned special duties in an attempt to beef up security provided to polio workers during the four-day campaign in Peshawar. The Short Interval Additional Dose drive is to kick off in Peshawar from January 5. Peshawar Deputy Commissioner Javed Marwat said on Wednesday that a total of 97 assistant sub-inspectors along with additional police personnel from police stations in the area will be assigned duties to guard the teams while they administer polio drops. Instructions have also been issued to Tehsildars and Patwaris to accompany the polio teams. The polio campaign will be directly monitored by Marwat, while civic staff have been directed to report at their concerned offices ahead of the campaign.
