Bakhtawar Mai, a resident of the Shaukatabad Colony in Ahmedpur, alleged that her husband, Mushtaq, also beat her and injured her arm.
She told police that she had married Mushtaq eight years ago and they had two sons. She said she worked as a domestic worker, but her husband had been unemployed for several years. She said he had gotten addicted to alcohol and asked her for money. She said when she refused to give him money for alcohol, he beat her up.
She alleged that he had been trying to forcing her into prostitution, but she had refused.
On Saturday, she said, he brought a man named Amin who owned a shop in the locality into their house. She said Mushtaq told her to go with him. “When I refused, he attacked me with a knife and injured my arm,” she said. She said she started screaming for help after which Mushtaq and Amin left.
She said some neighbours came to help her. She was taken to a nearby hospital and returned home a few hours later. She informed the police, who lodged an FIR against Mushtaq and Amin.
