The Peshawar High Court issued a show-cause-notice to the Chitral DCO for defying court orders. In a hearing on Thursday, Yasir Khattak, counsel for the petitioner Mian Mukhtar, said that DCO Rehmatullah Wazir had arrested Mukhtar on July 28 under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order and kept him under custody for three months. It has not been disclosed what exactly Mukhtar has been accused for. Khattak said that a PHC division bench on August 16 issued a notice for Mukhtar’s release but the DCO defied court orders to release Mukhtar on August 28 and even added a month to his imprisonment. He added that the
DCO’s actions were in clear violation of court orders and asked the court to serve Wazir a contempt of court notice.
