KARACHI:

Work on the new Super Highway inter-city bus terminal has been stalled as the secretaries of local government and finance are sitting on the paperwork, a court was told on Wednesday.

Sindh High Court’s Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Nadeem Akhtar were hearing a number of petitions on moving the buses to the city’s outskirts. The petitions have been filed by fed-up citizens and non-profit groups.

When the judges asked about progress, the city government’s lawyer Manzoor Ahmed replied that the summary is lying with the two secretaries who have to give orders for work to go ahead. He said that if they delay making a decision the budget could expire.

The judges heard this and ordered the two secretaries to appear in person on June 6 with the records and details.
