RAHIM YAR KHAN:

All Pakistan Traders Union has announced to organise a long march toward Islamabad to pressure the government into presenting a business-friendly budget.

The announcement was made at the concluding day of a traders’ convention in Rahim Yar Khan.

The convention demanded that the government set a 10 per cent quota for traders in the National Assembly and the Senate.

Khawaj Shafiq, chairman of All Pakistan Traders Union, said traders were ready to pay more taxes if the government was successful in bringing the big landlords in the tax net.

All Pakistan traders Union president Mian Abdul manan said 10 million traders would march towards Islamabad. He said this would be arranged before the announcement of budget. He criticised the bureacracy’s hold over policy making in the country.

He said the traders would fight for their rights and not move their businesses out of the country.

Representatives of 60 traders bodies attended the convention.
