Fans wowed by 'The Odyssey' female cast’s 'Elle' covers with elemental theme
Fans react online to 'The Odyssey' Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway and Charlize Theron's 'Elle' covers

Fans online have been reacting to a new set of Elle magazine covers featuring the leading women of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey, with many comparing the actresses to the four classical elements after the images were released.
The four separate covers feature Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o and Charlize Theron, each photographed around a distinct elemental concept connected to their styling and set design.
Hathaway represented water, posing in rain-soaked and submerged fashion looks while promoting her role as Penelope, queen of Ithaca.
Speaking to Elle, Hathaway reflected on reuniting with Nolan more than a decade after Interstellar. “And because I’ve worked so hard in the last dozen years, both as a person and as an actor, I was excited to show him what I’ve been up to,” she said.
Zendaya’s Earth-themed shoot showed the actress covered in dirt while modelling textured high-fashion pieces. Zendaya, who plays Athena, also spoke about working again with Tom Holland on both The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. “I get to go to work every day with my best friend, the person that I love,” she said.
Nyong’o’s fire-themed imagery included flames and red couture looks as she addressed criticism surrounding her casting as Helen of Troy. “This is a mythological story,” she said, adding that she was “not spending my time thinking of a defense.”
Theron completed the series with an air-inspired shoot promoting her role as Calypso. The actress said Nolan gave her an opportunity to avoid being typecast.
The Odyssey is scheduled for release on July 17.
