Elon Musk has criticised the series finale of The Boys, calling the ending “pathetic” after the final episode portrayed Homelander losing his powers and pleading for his life.

The reaction came after the release of the finale episode, Blood and Bone, which concluded Prime Video’s long-running superhero satire.

Musk reposted commentary criticising the show’s political direction, including claims that Homelander had become a Donald Trump analogue throughout the series.

In response, Musk wrote simply: “Pathetic”.

Series creator Eric Kripke later reacted publicly to Musk’s post and appeared to welcome the criticism. Sharing the comment on social media.

The finale also introduced a new character known as “The Disruptor”, a billionaire figure associated with space travel, fertility concerns and dark-coloured baseball caps. The character is briefly taken into orbit by Homelander before being killed.

When asked whether the role referenced Musk, Kripke addressed the similarities during an interview discussing the finale.

“What made you think it was Elon Musk?” he said jokingly, before explaining that the character had been discussed throughout the season as a satirical target that eventually suited the final episode.

Kripke said the character was introduced to reflect Homelander’s mindset during the show’s conclusion and credited writers David Reed and Judalina Neira with bringing the idea into the script.

According to Kripke, some moments in the final season also unintentionally mirrored real-world events connected to Trump.

All episodes of The Boys are now available to stream on Prime Video.
