An OnlyFans creator has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter after a California man died during the filming of extreme fetish content that investigators described as deeply disturbing.

According to authorities in Escondido, Michaela Rylaarsdam entered the plea last week in connection with the April 2023 death of 56 year old Michael Dale. Prosecutors said Dale suffocated while participating in a BDSM session that was being recorded for online content.

Court documents stated that Dale had contacted Rylaarsdam through Eros.com, a website commonly used for escort and adult entertainment services. Over several weeks, he reportedly paid her more than $11,000 for fetish related encounters and conversations. Investigators alleged that the requests became increasingly dangerous and involved bondage acts that included wrapping his body in plastic and obstructing his breathing.

Authorities said Rylaarsdam arrived at Dale’s home on April 17, 2023, and spent several hours filming explicit fetish material. Detectives later discovered videos on her phone showing Dale with a plastic bag over his head and duct tape wrapped around his face while he struggled to breathe.

Investigators claimed Dale remained in that condition for at least eight minutes. Prosecutors also alleged that Rylaarsdam continued filming content rather than immediately seeking medical help. One video reportedly showed her performing sexual acts beside Dale shortly before she contacted emergency services at 10:10pm.

When officers from the Escondido Police Department arrived at the property, Dale was unresponsive. Emergency crews transported him to hospital, where he was later declared brain dead. He was eventually removed from life support.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the cause of death as asphyxia and classified the death as a homicide.

Rylaarsdam, now 32, was originally charged with murder after her arrest in February 2025. Prosecutors later accepted a plea deal reducing the charge to involuntary manslaughter. Officials from the San Diego County District Attorney's Office said the plea acknowledged reckless disregard for human life rather than intent to kill.

She is expected to receive a four year state prison sentence during a hearing scheduled for June 8. Records show she has remained in custody without bail at the Las Colinas Detention Facility since her arrest.

The case has drawn widespread online attention because of its links to extreme online content creation and the growing pressures surrounding shock driven adult material. Social media reactions have ranged from outrage to concern over the increasingly dangerous acts being performed for paid subscribers and viral attention.
