As The Boys heads toward its final episodes, fans have noticed that Season 5 is heavily laying the groundwork for one upcoming spinoff while seemingly ignoring another project still in development.

The most obvious setup has been for Vought Rising, a 1950s-set prequel starring Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash as Stormfront, also known as Clara Vought. The series will explore the origins of Vought and the early days of Compound V, and multiple Season 5 storylines have tied directly into that mythology.

Recent episodes introduced Bombsight, played by Mason Dye, a character confirmed to play a major role in Vought Rising. Season 5 has also expanded on Soldier Boy’s backstory and his connection to Stormfront, reinforcing how central those relationships will be in the upcoming series.

Showrunner Eric Kripke has said these references emerged organically as part of Homelander’s storyline and the exploration of Vought’s origins, rather than being inserted solely to promote the prequel. Even so, the result has made Vought Rising feel like the most prominent continuation of the franchise after The Boys ends.

By contrast, The Boys: Mexico has yet to receive any direct setup in the main series. The project was first announced in 2023 and is being developed by writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, with Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal attached as executive producers and potentially as actors.

Kripke recently confirmed that the creative team delivered a pilot draft to Amazon, and that the studio responded positively while requesting revisions. That update suggests the project remains active, even though it has not yet been woven into Season 5’s storylines.

With The Boys ending this month, the franchise’s future appears focused on expanding the universe beyond the flagship series. While Vought Rising is scheduled to debut in 2027, The Boys: Mexico remains in earlier development and does not yet have a release date.
