Noah Wyle dresses as Dr Robby for charity event and gives fans 'physical exams' worth thousands
Audience members bid for the chance to join Wyle onstage for mock examinations performed in character as Dr Robby

Noah Wyle brought The Pitt to life in an unexpected way during a charity event, suiting up as Dr Michael “Robby” Robinavitch and giving fans comedic “physical exams” that helped raise thousands of dollars for charity.
The event took place during the 2026 Netflix Is a Joke Festival at the Hollywood Bowl, where Wyle appeared in full medical attire complete with scrubs and a stethoscope as part of Jon Stewart’s annual “Night of Too Many Stars” fundraiser benefiting NEXT for Autism.
During the live segment, audience members bid for the chance to join Wyle onstage for mock examinations performed in character as Dr Robby. According to reports from the event, the bit ultimately raised around $36,000 through the charity auction.

Wyle mixed humour with references to healthcare and politics throughout the routine, joking about blood pressure, mental cognition tests, and the stress of navigating Los Angeles traffic after the show. At one point, he also made a tongue-in-cheek reference to Donald Trump while administering a mock cognitive exam to participants.
The actor’s appearance further highlighted the massive popularity of The Pitt, which has become one of HBO Max’s biggest drama successes since premiering in 2025. Wyle’s portrayal of Dr Robby, a trauma physician dealing with burnout, grief, and mental health struggles, has earned widespread critical acclaim and helped fuel a major career resurgence for the former ER star.
Wyle has previously spoken about how deeply personal the role became for him, explaining in interviews that aspects of Robby’s emotional exhaustion and post-pandemic trauma were inspired by his own experiences and observations following COVID-19.
The live charity stunt also played into the growing fandom surrounding The Pitt, whose realistic approach to emergency medicine and emotionally intense storytelling has sparked passionate online discussion. Wyle’s performance as Dr Robby has especially resonated with viewers, with critics praising the character’s compassion and emotional complexity.
By turning one of television’s most emotionally worn-down doctors into a live comedy act for a good cause, Wyle managed to blend nostalgia, satire, and fan service, while raising significant money for autism advocacy in the process.
