Criminal Minds: Evolution has officially been renewed for a 20th season, as Paramount+ prepares to launch the series’ 19th season on May 28. The long-running procedural drama continues to follow the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, a team of profilers tasked with tracking and stopping the nation’s most dangerous criminals. Season 19 will stream weekly on Paramount+, with the subsequent season set to debut in 2027.

Season 19 brings back fan favourites including Joe Mantegna as David Rossi, A.J. Cook as Jennifer ‘JJ’ Jareau, Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia, Aisha Tyler as Dr. Tara Lewis, Zach Gilford as Dr. Will LaMontagne, and RJ Hatanaka as Adam J. Rodriguez, alongside Paget Brewster as Emily Prentiss. The season also introduces a notable slate of guest stars, featuring Connor Storrie, Justin Kirk, Yvette Nicole Brown, Clark Gregg, Paul F. Tompkins, Cress Williams, Kofi Siriboe, Lyndon Smith, Richard Cabral, Jeri Ryan, Rob Yang, Nicholas Gonzalez, Inny Clemons, Nicole Pacent, Dash Mihok, Joseph Cross, and Cara Jade Myers.

The series continues to be produced by 20th Television and CBS Studios, with Erica Messer serving as showrunner and executive producer. Other executive producers include Breen Frazier, Chris Barbour, Glenn Kershaw, and Mark Gordon, all of whom have contributed to the show’s decades-long run. Messer has been credited with evolving the franchise, balancing high-stakes crime cases with deep character development, which has kept viewers engaged over the years.

Criminal Minds: Evolution first premiered as a continuation of the original Criminal Minds, which aired on CBS for 15 seasons. The series picks up after the original storylines, updating the BAU cases to modern criminal investigations while exploring the personal journeys of the main team members. Paramount+ has also released a first-look clip of the upcoming season, offering fans a glimpse of the suspenseful narratives and emotional arcs that define the show.

As the BAU team continues to confront complex criminal minds, the show’s longevity demonstrates its ability to evolve alongside its characters, combining procedural storytelling with human drama. Season 19 promises to expand the scope of the franchise, with new cases, unexpected twists, and character-driven stories that will set the stage for the highly anticipated 20th season.
