UFC legend Georges St-Pierre to hit the big screen with a biopic in development
Georges St-Pierre is getting a biopic directed by Thomas Soto, tracing his UFC rise and personal journey

Georges St-Pierre, one of the most celebrated fighters in UFC history, is set to be the subject of a feature film. The biopic will explore the life and career of the mixed martial arts icon, with Quebec filmmaker Thomas Soto attached to direct. The project promises to provide an intimate look at St-Pierre beyond his reputation as a global sports figure.
St-Pierre, who became a two-division UFC champion and retired with a record of 26-2, said in a statement that he has long considered telling his story on screen. “We have been considering telling my story for a moment now, and when we found this team it was clear to us that we wanted this to be told in a new creative way,” he said. The filmmakers aim to strip away the myth surrounding “GSP the global icon” and instead reveal the man behind the fame.
Executive producers on the project include Brandon St-Jacques and Jean-Christophe Pelchat, alongside producers Bruno Rosato and Vito Balenzano. Casting announcements are expected in the coming months. Soto, who has been recognised as a Rising Star by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, has previously worked as a director and cinematographer on projects including his short film Hold the Lighthouse, the final season of CBC’s Six Degrees, and the Crave series Still I Rise.
Soto emphasised his intention to tell a story that feels honest, personal, and human. “Bringing that story to the world is both a privilege and a responsibility,” he said. The film will trace St-Pierre’s journey from Saint-Isidore, Quebec, to becoming a two-division UFC champion, highlighting the discipline, determination, and personal sacrifices that shaped his career.
Beyond his fighting career, St-Pierre has appeared in films including Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Kickboxer: Vengeance. He is also known for his work as a businessman, philanthropist, and cultural ambassador for Quebec and Canada. He is represented by Benji Bar David at CAA.
The biopic is part of a growing trend of sports figures having their stories adapted for film, offering fans a chance to see both the triumphs and challenges behind their public personas. With Soto directing and St-Pierre involved, the film is positioned to be both a celebration of his legacy and a deeper exploration of his life beyond the Octagon.
