Benedict Cumberbatch and Aaron Taylor Johnson star in Sky’s new thriller ‘Blood on Snow’
Sky has acquired Cary Joji Fukunaga’s crime thriller ‘Blood on Snow,’ starring Cumberbatch and Taylor Johnson

Blood on Snow, the latest crime thriller from Cary Joji Fukunaga, known for No Time To Die and True Detective, has been acquired by Sky for release in the U.K. The film, adapted from the bestselling novel by Jo Nesbø, features an ensemble cast including Benedict Cumberbatch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Eva Green, Emma Laird, and Ben Mendelsohn.
The story centres on Olav (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), a skilled hitman operating in Oslo’s criminal underworld. Trained to follow orders without question, Olav faces a moral crisis when his handler Hoffman demands he kill his own wife. Refusing the order, Olav plots a daring reversal that makes Hoffman the target and draws him into a violent gang war, navigating treacherous loyalties and moral boundaries.
Sky’s head of original film, Andrew Orr, said, “We’re delighted to be working with an exciting filmmaker of Cary Joji Fukunaga’s calibre, as we continue to build a fresh and diverse offering of Original films. Nesbø’s writing is exceptional, and the strength of the cast’s performances make this a standout addition to our slate.”
Mike Larocca and Michael Schaefer are producing under Department M, alongside executive producers Tallulah Fairfax of Hardy Son & Baker, as well as Damiano Tucci, Sophia Banks, and Tiziano Tucci.
Following the success of Sky’s previous Jo Nesbø adaptation The Hanging Sun, Blood on Snow is expected to premiere in U.K. cinemas in 2027, continuing Sky’s strategy of delivering high-profile crime thrillers to audiences hungry for tense, character-driven stories.
