Meryl Streep to star in Netflix adaptation of Jonathan Franzen’s The Corrections
Netflix orders limited series The Corrections starring Meryl Streep, based on Jonathan Franzen’s novel

Netflix has officially ordered the limited series The Corrections, starring acclaimed actress Meryl Streep, Variety reports.
The adaptation is based on Jonathan Franzen’s 2001 bestselling novel of the same name. Franzen will personally adapt the novel for the screen and serve as executive producer, while Streep will star and also executive produce the series.
The show’s logline describes it as “a sharply comic portrait of a Midwestern family whose three adult children resist their mother’s wish for one last Christmas together, each undone by delusions that were supposed to save them from becoming their parents.”
Cord Jefferson, known for his work on American Fiction and Watchmen, will executive produce and direct all episodes. Other executive producers include Mark Roybal, Paul Lee, and Nicole Clemens for Wiip, with Paramount Television Studios producing.
This is the latest high-profile television role for Streep, who recently appeared in Seasons 3 and 4 of Hulu’s hit series Only Murders in the Building, earning both Golden Globe and Emmy nominations. Streep also received acclaim for her roles in HBO’s Big Little Lies and is widely regarded as one of the greatest actresses of all time, with 21 Academy Award nominations and wins for Kramer vs. Kramer, Sophie’s Choice, and The Iron Lady.
Previous attempts to adapt The Corrections for the screen include a planned film and a 2011 HBO pilot starring Chris Cooper, Dianne Wiest, and Ewan McGregor, though neither project reached series production.
The Netflix series is highly anticipated, combining Franzen’s celebrated novel with Streep’s star power and Jefferson’s directorial vision, marking a significant addition to 2026’s television slate.
