Ariana Grande releases dark comedy music video featuring Justin Long chase storyline
Ariana Grande’s new video shows her haunting Justin Long in a dark comedy clip for ‘Hate That I Made You Love Me’

Ariana Grande has released the official music video for her new single “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” featuring Justin Long in a darkly comedic storyline directed by Christian Breslauer.
The video opens with Long’s character appearing to bury Grande at a gravesite, only for the singer to mysteriously reappear moments later. As he drives away, she shows up inside his vehicle, triggering a chain of increasingly surreal events that spiral into chaos. The sequence escalates into a fiery crash, after which Grande continues to appear in multiple unsettling forms, including in a diner filled with identical versions of herself.
The video blends horror and slapstick comedy as Long’s character becomes increasingly paranoid, with scenes showing him surviving a series of bizarre accidents while trying to escape what appears to be a supernatural presence. The clip ends with him returning to the burial site, where Grande stands over him with a shovel, suggesting the cycle is not over.
The track “Hate That I Made You Love Me” was released last week as the lead single from Grande’s upcoming album Petal, which is scheduled for release on July 31. The song was produced by longtime collaborators Ilya and Max Martin, marking another major pop release from the team behind several of her previous hits.
Grande has described the Petal era as more experimental and emotionally raw, hinting at a shift in tone from her earlier work. She is also preparing to launch her Eternal Sunshine tour, beginning June 6 in Oakland.
The new video adds to growing anticipation around Petal, positioning it as one of the most closely watched pop releases of the year.
