Elle Fanning says she created an OnlyFans account to prepare for 'Margo’s Got Money Troubles'
In 'Margot's Got Money Troubles', Margo turns to OnlyFans to make money and support herself and her child

Elle Fanning revealed that she created an OnlyFans account as part of her preparation for her role in the upcoming Apple TV+ series Margo’s Got Money Troubles.
The 27-year-old actress shared the detail while speaking at the show’s premiere during the SXSW Film & TV Festival on March 12, explaining that she wanted to better understand the online platform her character interacts with in the story.
Fanning said researching the digital space was an important part of getting into character. She noted that while she’s already familiar with social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, the team behind the series also set up an OnlyFans account for the writers’ room and for her so she could explore how the site works.
The series is based on Rufi Thorpe’s 2024 bestselling novel of the same name and follows Margo, a young woman who faces financial struggles after dropping out of college and becoming a new mother. In the story, Margo turns to OnlyFans as a way to make money and support herself and her child.
Margo’s Got Money Troubles features a star-studded cast including Michelle Pfeiffer and Nick Offerman as Margo’s parents, along with Nicole Kidman, Thaddea Graham, Marcia Gay Harden, Greg Kinnear, Michael Angarano, Rico Nasty and Lindsey Normington.
Created by David E. Kelley and produced by A24, the eight-episode comedy-drama is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on April 15, 2026, with its first three episodes dropping at launch followed by weekly releases.
Fanning also praised the project and her character, describing the story as both heartwarming and inspiring. She said Margo’s ability to stay hopeful despite life’s hardships made the role especially meaningful to portray.
