Jamie Lee Curtis is reflecting on aging and longevity in Hollywood, saying the entertainment industry can be especially difficult for actors as they grow older.

In a recent interview with AARP’s Movies for Grownups initiative, the Oscar-winning actress spoke candidly about her career and the lessons she has learned after decades in the spotlight. Curtis said turning 60 made her think more seriously about time and priorities, prompting her to focus only on people and projects that matter.

Curtis, who won the Academy Award for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, said she has long been aware of the challenges actors face as they age in Hollywood. As the daughter of film stars Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, she said she witnessed firsthand how the industry can overlook performers later in their careers.

Despite those challenges, Curtis has remained active in film and television. She recently appeared in the FX series The Bear, earning an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. She also returned to her role as Tess Coleman in Freakier Friday, the follow-up to the 2003 comedy.

Curtis is also starring in and producing the new series Scarpetta alongside Nicole Kidman. The show is based on the novels by Patricia Cornwell and follows a medical examiner investigating a serial killer case connected to her past.

The actress said she has chosen to embrace aging rather than resist it, explaining that accepting natural changes has brought her a sense of freedom.

Curtis added that recent personal losses have strengthened her determination to continue working and pursuing creative projects.
