Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus reunite in 'Hannah Montana' 20th anniversary special teaser
Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus appear together in 'Hannah Montana' anniversary teaser after feud rumours

Miley Cyrus and her father Billy Ray Cyrus appear together in a teaser for the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, marking a public reunion following speculation about tension within the Cyrus family.
The special celebrates two decades since the Disney Channel series first aired and will be released on Disney+ on March 24. Miley and Billy Ray, who portrayed a father and daughter on the original show, briefly appear together in the teaser trailer.
In the clip, Miley wears the character’s signature blonde Hannah Montana wig as she greets Billy Ray with the handshake used by their characters on the series. Billy Ray shared the teaser on Instagram and wrote: “Some things never change… 20 years later and @mileycyrus still knows the old handshake trick.”
The reunion follows previous rumours about a family rift after Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley’s mother Tish separated in 2022. When Tish remarried in 2023, Miley and her siblings Brandi and Trace attended the ceremony, while Braison and Noah did not.
Speculation about Miley’s relationship with her father also increased after she did not mention him during her acceptance speech at the 2024 Grammys and later referred to her mother as her “hero”. In May 2025, Miley addressed the rumours in an Instagram story.
“My dad and I have had our challenges over the years. Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else. I'm at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing.”
The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special will feature an interview with Miley hosted by Call Her Daddy podcast host Alex Cooper and include previously unseen footage from the series.
The teaser also shows Tish Cyrus appearing with Miley as they walk through the show’s iconic closet and look back at photos from the programme.
“This anniversary is for them, it’s for us,” Miley says in the trailer. “This feels like home to me.”
