Roommates has released its first trailer, offering a glimpse at a chaotic freshman-year friendship that quickly spirals into a passive-aggressive dorm rivalry.

The upcoming Netflix comedy stars Sadie Sandler as Devon, a hopeful and somewhat naïve college freshman eager to begin her university life. When she asks confident and socially savvy student Celeste—played by Chloe East—to be her roommate, the arrangement initially appears to be the start of a supportive friendship.

However, their relationship gradually deteriorates as the pressures of shared living, personal insecurities, and college life create tension between the two students. What begins as a friendly roommate dynamic soon evolves into a humorous but uncomfortable battle of passive-aggressive behavior inside their dorm.

The film is directed by Chandler Levack, known for projects such as Mile End Kicks and I Like Movies. The screenplay was written by Jimmy Fowlie and Ceara Jane O'Sullivan, both of whom have previously worked on the sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live.

Alongside Sandler and East, the ensemble cast features several notable performers including Storm Reid, Bailee Madison, Carol Kane, and Janeane Garofalo. Additional appearances from Natasha Lyonne and Nick Kroll have also been confirmed.

The film’s official synopsis describes the story as following Devon and Celeste’s initially promising friendship that slowly descends into an escalating dorm room conflict.

Roommates is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on April 17, introducing audiences to a comedic exploration of college friendships, identity, and the challenges of shared living.
