Heated Rivalry creator Jacob Tierney has shared an update on the future of the hit series, confirming that Season 2 is moving forward and remains on track to begin production this summer.

Tierney revealed that he is currently deep into the writing process for the upcoming season, spending long days working on scripts as the creative team prepares for the next chapter of the fan-favorite hockey drama. “I’m in a room all day long writing,” he said while discussing the progress on the show’s second installment.

Based on Rachel Reid’s bestselling Game Changers novels, Heated Rivalry follows professional hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, whose fierce rivalry on the ice evolves into a secret romantic relationship. The series quickly built a devoted fanbase after its debut, thanks to its blend of sports drama, romance and LGBTQ+ storytelling.

Tierney indicated that the upcoming season will continue expanding the characters’ storylines while maintaining the emotional intensity and chemistry that helped make the first season a breakout success.

While specific plot details for Season 2 remain under wraps, the production timeline suggests filming could begin later this year if development continues as planned.

The show’s strong reception and growing audience have positioned Heated Rivalry as one of the most talked-about new series in recent months, and anticipation for the next installment is already building among fans eager to see what comes next for Shane and Ilya.
