'Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen' creator discusses ending and season 2 plans
Creator explains 'Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen' ending and considers anthology format for future

The creator of Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen has addressed the series’ ending and outlined potential directions for a second season following its release on Netflix.
The series follows Rachel, played by Camila Morrone, in the days leading up to her wedding to Nicky, portrayed by Adam DiMarco.
The narrative begins with a flash-forward revealing a violent outcome, before introducing a family curse. Rachel is told she must marry her soulmate by sundown on her wedding day or face death.
During the finale, Nicky hesitates at the altar, leading Rachel to question their relationship. She ultimately dies but is resurrected as the Witness, a figure bound to observe future events tied to the family.
The curse also affects other members of Nicky’s family, resulting in multiple deaths. The series concludes with Rachel leaving alone, while Nicky remains behind.
Creator Haley Z. Boston explained Rachel’s decision, stating, “She realises the opposite of doubt isn’t certainty: It’s belief. You can’t be certain about any choice you make in life or what the outcome will be. So she takes that leap, and that’s her arc.” She added, “That causes all this chaos and mayhem, but she’s choosing herself.”
Boston also described Rachel’s transformation, saying, “She’s reborn and leaves the relationship behind. Metaphorically, when you end a relationship, those people are dead to you in a way. They’re no longer in your life.”
Discussing the character’s final moment, Boston said, “Cami played it so well. She’s emotional, exhausted from the week, and then there’s this small smile of, ‘I got out. I made the right choice. Now I’m on to my next adventure.’”
Regarding a second season, Boston indicated the series could continue as an anthology, adding, “I’ve thought about the show as a potential anthology.”
All episodes are currently available on Netflix.
