Daisy Edgar-Jones has opened up about the challenges she faced before being diagnosed with endometriosis at age 24. The actress revealed that she struggled with persistent acne and extremely painful periods throughout her teenage years, which she says made daily life difficult.

In a March 3 video for Vogue, Edgar-Jones discussed her long-standing skin issues, calling her teenage acne “volatile” and sharing how sensitive her skin has always been. She explained that learning she had endometriosis was a relief because it finally provided answers to the pain and hormonal issues she had endured for years.

“Endometriosis, yeah, I found out I was diagnosed when I was, I think I was 24. For so long, I had such painful periods and really, you know, volatile skin. It was definitely a relief to find out why I was going through it,” she said, highlighting the impact the diagnosis had on her understanding of her own body.

The Normal People star also spoke about how she has managed the acne that accompanied her condition. She emphasised the importance of hydration, mindful eating, and avoiding certain foods like dairy to help manage flare-ups. Additionally, she praised specific skincare products that did not irritate her sensitive skin, noting that finding the right routine has been essential to maintaining her complexion.

Reflecting on her experiences, Edgar-Jones urged others dealing with acne or similar struggles to recognise that the issue is not all that defines them. “It was all I could see when I looked in the mirror, but actually, when I look back at, you know, photos or videos, it’s funny that so much of the beauty of you, the inside and how much, you know, the confidence that you wear — can really help,” she said.

Her candid discussion sheds light on the physical and emotional challenges many face before receiving a proper diagnosis and underscores the importance of awareness around conditions like endometriosis.
