Sarah J. Maas confirms release dates for sixth and seventh ACOTAR novels
Author Sarah J. Maas confirms two new A Court of Thorns and Roses novels, scheduled for October 27 and January 12

Author Sarah J. Maas has confirmed that two new instalments in her A Court of Thorns and Roses series will be released later this year and early next year.
Speaking on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast on March 4, Maas revealed that the sixth book in the fantasy romance series will be published on October 27, with the seventh arriving on January 12. The novels will follow A Court of Silver Flames, which was released in 2021.
Maas said the two books form part of a larger narrative and will be released close together because their stories are closely connected.
“It’s just the story that was finally ready to come out of me was big—really, really, really big,” she said. “And as I started writing this in, like, Montana, like energy vortex, it came out of me in a way that surprised me.”
She explained that the storyline will unfold across four parts. The sixth book represents the first part, while the seventh will contain the second and third parts of the story.
A fourth part is planned but has not yet been written. “Those were really f--king long,” she said, adding that her current focus is on releasing the first section.
Maas first confirmed plans for additional ACOTAR novels in December 2024, noting that she had already mapped out plotlines for future instalments.
The author also previously revealed that the upcoming fourth novel in her Crescent City series will include a crossover set within the ACOTAR universe. The Crescent City books currently include House of Earth and Blood, House of Sky and Breath and House of Flame and Shadow.
Fans have speculated about which character will lead the sixth ACOTAR novel. Many readers believe Elain Archeron may become the central perspective, following stories focused on her sisters Feyre and Nesta.
Maas has not confirmed the theory but previously said she began exploring Elain’s character while working in her own garden.
