Actor Jackson White has spoken candidly about his relationship with stepfather Kurt Sutter, husband of his mother, Katey Sagal.

Sutter, known for creating Sons of Anarchy, married Sagal in 2004 when White was eight years old. On the February 18 episode of Call Her Daddy, White discussed the challenges of blending families and building trust with parental figures.

“Male relationships, I’ve had to work on, because I had a more complicated relationship with men than I did with women,” White said, reflecting on his upbringing with his mother and sister. He admitted that adjusting to step-parents was difficult, noting a natural resistance to change during childhood. “I think you have a gut reaction to somebody who’s replacing your parent,” he added, describing early interactions with both stepmothers and Sutter as “two rams locking horns.”

White highlighted the unique challenges Sutter faced in stepping into a family with children. “I couldn’t imagine marrying somebody with kids and just being like, these are from a complicated place, but I’m going to take care of them,” White said, praising his stepdad’s commitment. He also shared that he and Sutter recently discussed the complexities of their dynamic, acknowledging mutual respect and understanding.

Sagal and Sutter recently celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary, a milestone marked with an Instagram post by Sutter honoring their relationship. White’s reflections underscore the personal growth involved in navigating blended families and building adult relationships with step-parents.

Jackson White currently stars in Hulu’s Tell Me Lies and has spoken openly about the influence of his upbringing on both his personal life and career.
