Chris Hemsworth teases bold new direction for Thor ahead of future Marvel films
Chris Hemsworth hints at a fresh direction for Thor as Marvel plans future films following Avengers: Doomsday

Chris Hemsworth has hinted at an evolving future for Thor, suggesting that Marvel Studios is developing new ideas to keep the superhero relevant for audiences worldwide.
Speaking on the SmartLess podcast, Hemsworth revealed he recently discussed the character’s trajectory with studio president Kevin Feige. According to the actor, the studio aims to deliver something “unique” in upcoming projects, signaling renewed confidence after earlier uncertainty about Thor’s long-term role.
About six months ago, Hemsworth admitted he was unsure where the character would head following Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. Now, the actor has suggested he may portray the God of Thunder “a couple more times,” indicating continued involvement in the franchise.
Hemsworth also reflected on the tonal evolution of the Thor series. He praised Thor: Ragnarok for successfully reinventing the character but acknowledged that Thor: Love and Thunder leaned too heavily into comedy. The response, he noted, underscored the importance of balancing humor with emotional depth—an approach future installments are expected to adopt.
While a fifth standalone Thor film remains in development without an official title or release date, Hemsworth hinted that the next chapter could explore deeper aspects of the hero’s identity. Potential storylines may include mythological quests, renewed Asgardian conflicts, and collaborations with other cosmic figures from the Marvel universe.
Fan reactions online have largely reflected anticipation, with many welcoming the prospect of a refreshed tone. As Marvel prepares for its next phase, Hemsworth’s comments suggest Thor’s story is far from over and may soon enter a more layered and ambitious era.
