Madonna is officially returning to her dance roots with the announcement of her new studio album Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II, set for release on July 3 via Warner Records. The project marks her first full-length album in seven years and serves as a direct continuation of her 2005 record Confessions on a Dance Floor, one of the defining dance albums of the 2000s.

The announcement was made through Madonna’s social media accounts. The image features the singer posed atop purple speakers, wearing coordinated lingerie with a pink veil covering part of her face, signalling a return to the stylised club aesthetic associated with her earlier work.

The album reunites Madonna with producer Stuart Price, who originally collaborated with her on Confessions on a Dance Floor. That record produced global hits including Hung Up Sorry and Jump and helped cement Madonna’s influence within electronic and dance pop music. Their renewed partnership suggests a continuation of the sound and production style that defined that era, though the artist has indicated a broader conceptual ambition behind the project.

In a statement released alongside the announcement, Madonna described the creative philosophy behind the album as a celebration of movement, spirituality and communal experience. She framed dance music as a ritualistic practice, emphasising its emotional and physical connection to healing, identity and collective expression. The statement highlighted themes of sound, vibration and repetition as tools for altered perception and release, reinforcing the idea that the album is intended as both a musical and experiential work.

The release also follows Madonna’s return to Warner Records after nearly two decades away from the label. Her reunion with the company was first confirmed earlier in 2026, when she expressed enthusiasm about revisiting the partnership that launched her early career. At the time, she suggested that new music would follow in 2026 or beyond, with a focus on experimentation and creative freedom.

Confessions on a Dance Floor originally arrived in 2005 and became a commercial and critical success, topping charts globally and reinforcing Madonna’s ability to reinvent herself across decades. Its sequel now arrives in a very different musical landscape, but with similar ambitions to dominate dance floors while exploring deeper emotional and cultural themes.

With its July release date confirmed, anticipation is building around how Madonna will reinterpret her signature dance sound for a new generation while reconnecting with one of the most influential eras of her career.
