Bad Bunny Super Bowl halftime 2026: Lady Gaga joins historic Spanish-language performance
Bad Bunny steals Super Bowl halftime show with surprise Lady Gaga appearance

Bad Bunny made Super Bowl history by becoming the first artist to deliver a fully Spanish-language halftime performance at Super Bowl LX, turning the NFL’s biggest stage into a global cultural moment.
Set to driving reggaeton beats and bold visuals celebrating Latino identity, the Puerto Rican superstar performed hits from his album Debí Tirar Más Fotos, including DtMF and NUEVAYoL.
The show reached a surprise peak when Lady Gaga joined him on stage for a reggaeton-inspired version of Die With a Smile, drawing one of the loudest reactions of the night. Ricky Martin also appeared during the performance, with brief cameo moments from Cardi B and social media star Alix Earle.
The halftime set included an emotional nod to Bad Bunny’s recent Grammy triumph, featuring a visual callback to his “ICE out” acceptance speech before he handed the award to a young boy on screen. Just days earlier, Bad Bunny became the first artist to win Album of the Year for a non-English-language album at the 2026 Grammys.
Despite widespread praise, the performance sparked political controversy. President Donald Trump criticized Bad Bunny’s selection ahead of the game, dismissing the halftime show choice and questioning the decision to feature a Spanish-language performance on such a prominent American stage.
His remarks fueled backlash online, with critics calling them dismissive of Latino culture, while supporters echoed concerns about the NFL’s entertainment direction.
Bad Bunny previously said he never pursued awards or the Super Bowl spotlight, emphasizing that his goal was to connect with his roots, culture and community in an honest way.
That message was reflected throughout the performance, which many viewers hailed as a defining cultural moment in Super Bowl history.
The halftime show followed a pregame lineup led by Green Day, who performed Holiday, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, and American Idiot. Charlie Puth sang the national anthem, Brandi Carlile delivered America the Beautiful, and Coco Jones performed Lift Every Voice and Sing.
