Meryl Streep says Catherine O'Hara graced audience as 'friends', Michael Keaton mourns death of a friend
'This one hurts. Man am I gonna miss her,' Keaton said on Instagram

Tributes continue to pour in for Catherine O’Hara, with longtime collaborators Meryl Streep and Michael Keaton sharing emotional statements honoring the late actress and her lasting impact on those who knew her personally and professionally.
Meryl Streep, who co-starred with O’Hara in the 1986 film Heartburn, reflected on the compassion and humanity O’Hara brought to her work. “Catherine O’Hara brought love and light to our world, through whipsmart compassion for the collection of eccentrics she portrayed,” Streep said in a statement. She added that O’Hara’s death is “such a loss for her family and friends, and the audience she graced as friends,” emphasising the deep connection viewers felt with her performances.
Michael Keaton, O’Hara’s co-star in Beetlejuice and its upcoming sequel, shared a more personal tribute on Instagram, highlighting their long-standing friendship. “We go back before the first Beetlejuice,” Keaton wrote. “She’s been my pretend wife, my pretend nemesis and my real life, true friend.” He concluded simply and poignantly, “This one hurts. Man am I gonna miss her.”
The statements from Streep and Keaton add to a growing list of heartfelt remembrances from across the entertainment industry, underscoring not only Catherine O’Hara’s extraordinary talent but also the warmth, kindness and loyalty she brought to her relationships off screen.
