Dove Cameron says she cried during Damiano David’s proposal, which took place at their home last October

Dove Cameron has shared details of her engagement to Damiano David, saying she “cried so much” when the Italian musician proposed. The actor and singer discussed the moment during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Cameron explained that she was aware David, the Måneskin frontman, intended to propose, as he had involved her in the process of designing her engagement ring.

However, she did not know when the proposal would take place and did not expect it to happen at home while she was packing for a trip to Australia in October.

The 30-year-old said she was wearing “a big T-shirt” with “no make-up” and described herself as “the worst version of myself” while packing. “I’m running around like a creature in our house,” she told the audience, recalling how David watched her as she prepared for the trip.

Cameron said she quickly realised what was happening and panicked, adding, “I forgot how to function for a minute, my brain broke in half.” David then asked her to come into the living room, where he delivered a speech that left her “sobbing”.

Quoting David directly, Cameron said he told her, “I know that some girls want rose petals. I know that you were maybe expecting something big, but our life is so big and it’s full of so many public highs that there’s no romance in that for us anymore.”

He continued by explaining that he wanted to propose at home, saying he wanted “dishes”, “laundry” and “making food together” as part of the life they would share, before asking her to marry him.

The couple were later photographed wearing rings on their first day in Australia, prompting speculation about their engagement.

Cameron said they had not planned to announce the news immediately, but decided to confirm it after media coverage increased. Cameron and David have been in a relationship since 2023.
