Travis Kelce allegedly played a role in encouraging Taylor Swift to confront Blake Lively about changes in their friendship before private text messages between the two women were later revealed in court documents, according to a report by Page Six, citing the US Sun.

A source claimed that Kelce, 36, noticed growing discomfort between Swift and Lively in 2024 and felt that Lively’s communication toward the singer had shifted. Although Swift had not initially raised the issue herself, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end reportedly believed the dynamic was no longer reflective of a healthy friendship and encouraged Swift to address it directly.

The insider alleged that Kelce felt Lively’s behavior toward Swift seemed “off” and that Swift, 36, deserved honesty after being a consistently loyal friend. While Kelce reportedly did not harbor personal animosity toward Lively, he was said to be concerned that the situation was unfair to Swift.

The tension came to a head in December 2024, when Swift and Lively exchanged text messages that were later unsealed as part of Lively’s ongoing legal dispute with her It Ends With Us co-star and director, Justin Baldoni, and his production company. In the exchange, Lively reached out to check whether her friendship with Swift was still “good,” prompting Swift to share candid feedback.

Swift told Lively that she had sensed a “shift” in their communication, explaining that Lively’s messages had begun to feel overly formal and distant, rather than reflective of their usual tone. She said she missed the more natural, candid version of her friend and felt distanced by what she described as carefully worded, group-style messaging.

Lively responded by acknowledging Swift’s perspective and apologizing, explaining that she had become overly cautious in her digital communication due to fears that messages could become public amid her legal battle. Swift reassured her that she did not owe an apology, though Lively still expressed regret for how her behavior may have affected their friendship.

According to Page Six, tensions had been building after Swift was drawn into Lively’s dispute with Baldoni. Previous reports suggested Swift felt “used” during the conflict, and insiders indicated the friendship may not recover. The two have reportedly not been in contact since around the time of the text exchange and have not been photographed together since October 2024, when they were last seen on a double date with their partners.
